Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience : Willingness to be trained.

Certification: PSS Certification. Enrolled within 60 days of hire and completed course within 9 months of hire.

Position Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Providing personal care according to Plan of Care which may include:

Baths

Back rubs

Oral hygiene

Shampoos

Changing bed linen

Dressing and undressing patients/clients

Skin care and prevention of skin breakdown

Toileting activities

Keeping clients living area clean and orderly-dusting, vacuuming

Transportation and grocery shopping as ordered.

Planning and preparing nutritious meals

Assisting in feeding the client

Taking and recording oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered (within the training limitations of the PSS)

Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care.

Assisting client in the self-administration of medication.

Doing client’s laundry.

2. Meets safety needs of patients/clients and using equipment safely and property including but not limited to foot stools, side rails, restraints, etc.

3. Observes and reports changes in the condition and needs of the client to the supervisor.

4. Maintains and submits documents as required by agency policy and regulatory requirements.

5. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements.

6. Performs additional duties as assigned.

General Requirements :

Must be 18 years of age.

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and liability insurance.

Good verbal and written skills.

Must present a professional image appropriate to job responsibilities.

Good organizational skills and ability to carry out duties with limited supervision.

Fulfill assignments with reliability and punctuality.

High moral and ethical values as set forth in the SequelCare of Maine Employee Handbook.

Willingness to be open to learning and growing.

Appropriate interpersonal/personal boundaries and the ability to work cooperatively as a team member.

Maturity of judgment and behavior.

Ability to remain flexible to reasonable changes in the work schedule.
