Secretary - Department of Veterans Affairs - Augusta, ME





The incumbent serves as the primary Secretary for the Chief of the Chaplain Service who is responsible for the spiritual, pastoral, and religious programs for the VA Maine Healthcare System. The duties of the position include but are not limited to:
  • Screens calls and visitors to the Chaplain service administrative office.

  • Maintains the Chief of Chaplain service daily calendar making appointments and arranging conferences and meetings without prior approval based on knowledge of his/her schedule.

  • Attends and records minutes of meetings when required, summarizes appropriately, distributes copies to attendees.

  • Serves as the timekeeper for the Chaplain service.

  • Acts as liaison with Human Resources to provide requested documents.

  • Serves as key control representative for all of Chaplain service.

  • Assists with the Encounter Action Required Report (EARR) and Event Capture System (ECS).

  • Maintains fund control points for Chaplain service and prepares forms for contracting services.

  • Assists with the preparation of budget requests.

  • Maintains purchase card for Chaplain service.

  • Processes incoming correspondence.

  • Orders supplies.

  • Serves as Information Technology Liaison (ITL).

  • Conducts annual inventory of equipment.

Work Schedule: Negotiable, 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday
