Activity Teacher - Internationalism Programme




A unique international experience


An opportunity has become available to join the team at the Nanjing Campus of Caulfield Grammar School as an Activity Teacher. Commencing in November 2016 this is a fixed term contract for a period of 3 years. This position offers the unique chance to immerse yourself in the culture and language of China.


Activity Teachers guide our students through an experience-based academic programme and provide an urban outdoor education in a foreign setting. You will bring your love of working with young people, history and culture, and enthusiasm for delivering a physically active programme. Nanjing Campus hosts 6 groups of Year 9 students and a Year 11 study tour each year. You will be part of a team of Activity Teachers and Trainees, supported by the Head and Deputy Heads of Campus. Travelling within China, to both Shanghai and Beijing, will be a part of this role.


The key to success in this role will be the ability to utilize inquiry based learning to develop a passion for learning and a keen understanding and interest in internationalism within our students.


You will be accommodated on site or near to the campus in a fully furnished apartment. Airfares, transport of personal items, medical insurance and meals are all provided. A comprehensive orientation will ensure you are ready to assume this unique and rewarding position.


Applications are invited from qualified teachers, registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching or with the ability to transfer existing teacher registration. The local equivalent will be sought from international candidates.


In order to be successful in this role, you will display the following skills & experience;


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Education

  • Chinese language skills would be an advantage

  • Be a team player with experience in inquiry based learning

  • Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Be a skilled record keeper, with an ability to meet reporting deadlines
