•Explore, assess, and provide meaningful and actionable information to current and future efforts across JIEDDO
• Apply Chinese language and cultural expertise, area knowledge, advanced computer use and web research expertise to provide near real-time tactical Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) from social media information and social media analysis in support of current military operations.
• Conduct both large scale media analysis and in-depth comprehensive research and assessments of specific targets.

Basic Qualifications
Chinese Language Proficiency is required at Professional Working Proficiency Level 3 or higher as defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable; Advanced foreign language reading and comprehension skills in one or more languages. Additional languages listed below:

Using visualizations and analytical software, such as Analyst’s Notebook, conduct link and trend analysis to discover new information, corroborate existing information, and predict future threats to USAF assets.
Participate in AFOSI operational activity, as required.
Use data in AFCERT and 35 IS databases for correlations to open-source Internet information on threats to USAF networks.
Conduct analysis of threats to automated information systems, networks, and critical information in support of AFNETOPS locations and to Network Operations Security Center locations.
Provide routine input into AFNETOPS products from the CI perspective
Conduct link and trend analysis to predict Computer Network Attack (CNA) or Computer Network Exploitation (CNE).
Advise on network or system vulnerabilities and assess the threat of exploitation.
Provide briefings on Information Warfare (IW) indications and warning and recommend countermeasures

Senior Level Linguist - Performs full range of activities in processing material or participating in situations requiring an advanced professional capability (4 – 4+ for translation or interpretation on the ILR scale) in requisite professional disciplines. Translation:
- Can accurately translate reports/texts in electronic and hardcopy formats that contain facts and some abstract language, showing an ability to capture intended implications and nuances.
- Can accurately capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements in text. Word choice and expression generally adhere to target language (TL) norms and means of expression specific to subject field(s) and are strong enough to allow translator to operate successfully in that field.

Transcription:
- Reviews audio and/or video materials, transcribes with high degree of accuracy and expression.

Gisting/Summarizing:

Qualifications:

3- Education Requirements:

Primary Linguist: BA/BS and should have 0-2 years professional language services experience.

Senior Linguist: BA/BS and should have 3-4 years professional language services experience.

4- Language Testing Requirements:

All candidates will be required to take and pass a language test administered by Leidos. If the candidate passes this test, s/he will be required to take and pass the government-administered language test. If s/he does not pass the Leidos or government language test, s/he will not be eligible for this position.

5- Desired Skills:
- Experience deployed as a linguist supporting contingency operations
- Knowledge of U.S. Intelligence Community, military, cryptologic, and/or law enforcement experience
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in Target Language and in English
- Linguists who are proficient in multiple languages strongly desired.

6- Guidelines on Residence/Travel:

Linguists may perform a wide range of linguistic functions including, but not limited to: Translation to and from Chinese, Interpretation, as well as Audio and Video Transcription into grammatically correct English.
