Located on two campuses in Vermont, Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy: offers students the opportunity to study Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, or Spanish with skilled language educators. The Language Director is a senior administrator that works in close consultation with full-time MIL staff and Summer Site Manager to implement the Summer Residential Academy Immersion Curriculum, guidelines, and policies. Use excellent project management skills to plan for and execute Academy events and co-curricular programming.

Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in Academy programming.
Work to continually maintain a high-quality summer Academy through interaction, participation and visibility throughout the program.
Support the Language Pledge.
Communicate professionally and effectively to parents, students and other staff.
Provide meaningful feedback to students.
Work with other faculty, staff, and site administrators to create a successful Academy.
Complete evaluations, reports and other documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge and utilization of the Academy policies and procedures to create a safe, supportive, rewarding environment for students and staff.

POSITION SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees Assistant Language Director and Teachers

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Qualifications:
Current language educators and/or administrators with experience with middle/high school level students
A minimum of five years of world language teaching experience required
Native or near-native mastery of the target language and culture

Additional Qualifications:
Well-versed in current world language pedagogy.
Teacher training and professional development experience strongly preferred.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION:
This is a residential position. All employees will be provided room and board. They will have two full days off during the 4-week session. All employees pay for their travel to and from program locations. Transportation from local airport and train station is provided at both the beginning and the end of the program by MIL. Housing is not provided for family members.

Preseason work is required for this position.

Must have attended DLI (Defense Language Institute) and taken DLPT test, preferably within the last year. Scoring gradients are below.

Operational Linguists - Minimum Manpower Requirements List (MMRL):
1. Veteran - Minimum 10 years SIGINT experience. DLPT L3/R3
2. Senior - Minimum 7 years SIGINT experience. DLPT L3/R3
3. Native Speaker - No CT experience required. DLPT L3/R3 (most list proficiency as "Native" or "Fluent")
4. Language Professional (LP) - Minimum 4 years SIGINT and/or experience. DLPT L3/R3 (**In some cases will accept 3/2+ or 2+/3)
5. Journeyman - 1-4 years SIGINT experience. DLPT L2/R2

Note: For the resume to be considered Native, candidates must have completed their primary and secondary (junior high school and high school equivalent) in their native born country.

Clearance Requirement:
