Accountant - Howard P Fairfield, LLC - Skowhegan, ME






The overall function of this position is to provide necessary accounting reports, job costing, ledge posting, billing, auditing, fixed asset reports and reconciliations.


Essential Functions of the Job:


The duties of this job will include but are not limited to the following:


ACCOUNTING


  • Analyze and report deviations between standard equipment costs and actual equipment costs.

  • Perform several auditing functions as well as fixed asset reporting.

  • Complete month-end operations along with costing and billing reports.

  • Gather necessary information from Parts Department and shops for comparison reporting.

  • Prepare various internal cost/management reports in a timely and accurate manner, including spreadsheets and forms.

  • Prepare the daily/weekly/monthly sales & bookings report.

  • Prepare and distribute reports comparing actual to budget on a weekly basis.

MISCELLANEOUS ACCOUNTING


  • Posts various accounting information into database and to the GL accounts.

  • Reconciles GL accounts and bank statements.

  • Process daily billing reports.

  • Trains others on accounting functions and inventory control as necessary.

**Performs miscellaneous accounting functions and all other miscellaneous duties as required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):


  • Excellent computer and word processing experience.

  • Experience with manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to perform general and business math applications, algebra, and general and cost accounting.

  • Ability to prepare business letters, summaries, and reports, using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.

  • Ability to perform a variety of duties including frequent changes of tasks involving different aptitudes, techniques and procedures.

  • Ability to apply principles of rational systems, i.e. bookkeeping, to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Excellent organization skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with people at all levels.

  • Self-motivated. Able to work independently without constant direction or supervision.

  • Commitment to teamwork.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 3 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Verbal Aptitude: Possess an above average ability to understand the meaning of words and to use them effectively.

  • Clerical Perception: The ability to perceive pertinent detail in verbal or tabular material and to observe differences in copy, to proofread words and numbers, and to avoid perceptual errors in arithmetic computation.

  • Numerical Aptitude: Possess a medium degree ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Strength Rating: Sedentary Work – involves sitting most of the time, computer and word processing work 5+ hours per day.

  • Frequently: Talking, hearing

  • Occasionally: Strength, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching

ENVIRONMENTAL


  • Fairly frequent exposure to weather, oils and solvents, moving mechanical parts and atmospheric conditions.

  • Noise intensity level – moderate.
