Application Design Engineer
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Application Design Engineer at our office in Shanghai, China. As Application Design Engineer you will be responsible for the configuration and integration of marine bridge equipment (IBS) including key systems like Radar, ECDIS, Gyro and Steering. This role includes the preparation of technically accurate scopes compliant to IMO, Class, Flag, Customer and Company Standards. In addition the creation of customised connection drawings, functional descriptions, analyses and test documentation including related technical clarification. You will also provide guidance to local Inspectors and Field Service Technicians during commissioning to achieve project related class certification.
Key responsibilities
- Compliant interpretation of customer requirements (yard specification) and technical preparation of complex configurations (mainly for Radar, ECDIS or Steering Control Systems)
- Responsible for generating accurate project related and customised documentation including connection drawings, technical descriptions and test specifications in English, while meeting tight deadlines
- Provide in-depth support to our Business Development team and external customers for all related Bridge Navigation equipment
- Strong ability to communicate and liaise with departments at all levels worldwide, including Engineering, Quality Control, Training, Field Service, Order Processing and Business Development
- Business travel for training and project meetings may be required
- Awareness and compliance with Company Standards of Conduct and all relevant statutory requirements
- To carry out any other reasonable management request
Required Skills / Experience
- Degree in electrical/electronic, mechatronics or aeronautical engineering
- Excellent communication skills (English written and spoken)
- Ability to work within an international team, highly organised and a self-starter to work independently on assigned projects
- Good computer skills with focus on MS Office and CAD software
- Strong prioritization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
