Veterinary Position Vacancy - University of Maine at Augusta - Augusta, ME





UMA-Bangor is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Assistant Professor and/or Coordinator position in our Veterinary Technology degree program. The appointment will begin on August 31, 2015 or January 1, 2016. The Veterinary Technology program is based on UMA’s Bangor campus.

QUALIFICATIONS:
DVM strongly preferred. To be considered as the Assistant Professor position, required qualifications include: an earned Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited (AVMA) university; must be licensed or be eligible for licensure in the State of Maine; previous post-secondary teaching experience. Experience teaching non-traditional students preferred. The successful faculty candidate may be expected to teach via one or more of the distance education modalities utilized by the University.

Applications from qualified Licensed Veterinary Technicians will be considered . The LVT would serve as the Program Coordinator responsible for recruiting and recommending adjuncts for hire, advising students, and having general responsibility for the program curriculum and enrollment. Required qualifications include: an earned LVT (licensed veterinary technician certification) from an AVMA accredited institution and previous administrative experience. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to student learning, excellent communication skills with students, peers, administrators, staff, and the general public, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative team setting.

Salary: The normal hiring range is low-to-mid fifties for a tenure-track faculty position. The normal hiring range for the LVT appointment is low-to-mid thirties. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers an excellent fringe-benefits package.
