Community Relations Assistant job - Inland Hospital - Waterville, ME
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND WORK ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Wellness Outreach
1.
Assist with planning/execution of all outreach events (from health fairs to other planned outreach events), including writing and sending media releases, taking registration, set-up, tracking and reporting results, etc.
Website/Social Media
1.
Coordinate and maintain external website (Internet) content, update/enter information as needed, write news releases, track and report web trend data, develop new ideas for web use.
2.
Maintain Community Relations website emails from community.
3.
Maintain components of internal website (Intranet), and assists with organizational training with internal website software program as needed.
4.
Develop relationships with corporate web colleagues to ensure successful web projects and explore new opportunities.
5.
Maintain social media outlets, responses and tracking.
Marketing
1.
Assist with planning and production of Inland’s external and internal communications (i.e. enewsletter, annual report, monthly calendar of events, etc). Includes writing, photography, minor graphic design as needed.
2.
Assist with all hospital marketing and PR efforts (i.e. outreach events, new physician promotion, etc). Includes interviewing, writing, editing, proofreading, photography.
3.
Responsible for maintaining/updating communication tools in practices.
Community Benefit
1.
Coordinate all aspects of Community Benefit program and committee tasks, correspondence, applications, meeting set-up, etc.
2.
Coordinate Community Benefit reporting and documentation. Work with Inland departments to obtain and track information.
Other
1.
Participation in community groups/committees as assigned.
2.
Maintain supplies for office and events, and coordinates maintenance of office equipment (copier, etc)
3.
Rounding of hospital/practices to update marketing materials.
4.
Participate and share in the responsibility for Performance Improvement.
5.
Comply with Inland’s
Customer Service Initiative
Hospital Hand Hygiene Standards.
6.
Adhere to Inland Hospital Standards of Behavior.
7.
Other duties/projects as assigned by Director of Community Relations and Community Wellness Team Leader.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
At times, long and irregular hours are necessary.
Multiple tasks frequently must be balanced and prioritized. Must
maintain positive image and attitude, despite occasional stressful surroundings and situations.
PHYSICAL CRITERIA/EFFORT
Work involves sitting 75% of the time. Prolonged periods of computer and telephone work occurs. Occasional moderate lifting (45%), bending, squatting and stooping is necessary.
SAFETY
1.
Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
2.
Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate.
3.
Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
OCCUPATIONAL RISKS
Failure to follow established procedures could result in back injury or sprains from lifting, bending over the desk, or falls and bruises from inattention.
Also pulls and strains from repetitive hand motions. Also, o
ccupational injuries may occur from not following policies and procedures regarding (1) exposure to hazardous materials including blood and bodily fluids and (2) potential injuries from sharp objects, violent individuals and physical environment.
PROBABILITY AND CONSEQUENCES OF ERRORS
Errors can result in negative customer/community reaction.
Probability is contingent upon individual practice.
Poor performance will be addressed according to established progressive disciplinary policies and procedures of Inland Hospital and Maine State Law.
NUMBERS SUPERVISED
Non-supervisory position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven attention to detail. Successful relationship building. Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Facebook.
EDUCATION
Associates Degree required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Community Health Education, Communications, or Marketing.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
At least 5 years of successful customer service experience or related work, with successful experience in
event/program planning and development, project work, marketing, relationship development and management. Experience with website and social media management preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher or other graphics software preferred. Basic digital photography and editing skills necessary. Proven success working independently and with a team required. Ability to work some weekends and evenings necessary.
