[Full-time] AmCham fall internships at AmCham


AmCham China is looking for interns in Communications and Operations and Events. Applicants must be enrolled in college or graduate school during the internship. Expat candidates should be have an X visa or must be eligible to apply for an F visa in their country of their origin. AmCham provides an invitation letter for a 3-month F visa.


Applications should be sent to Elizabeth Barrett at ebarrett@amchamchina.org, and must include a 1-page cover letter in English and a 1-page resume in English.


In the body of the email, please include the following:
1. Available dates and preference for full time or part time
2. Department preferences. Candidates should submit their application only once, but state if they want to be considered by multiple departments.
3. Current status: location (city/country), citizenship, and visa status with regards to China (i.e. Chinese citizen currently studying abroad, Chinese student, American in Beijing on an X visa).

Communications Intern (Digital and PR)

*Develop website content

*Assist with AmCham China announcements and events

*Assist with multimedia resources (podcasts, photos and possible video)

*Proofreading and formatting of site content

*Help to coordinate social networking sites

*Research best communications practices of other chambers

*Support Business Now content development

*Support Communications Department staff on projects as needed


Required skills:

*Experience in writing and editing

*Healthy interest in social networking sites

*Knowledge of multimedia platforms (i.e. podcasting)

*Proficiency with web-based tools

*Familiarity with web editing and multimedia software

*English-Chinese translation skill is a must


Communications Intern (Magazine)
NOTE, applicants must also submit a writing sample from a published work (magazine, blog) or academic writing (no more than 3,000 words).


*Pitch and develop articles

*Transcribe and fact-check interviews

*Write summaries of chamber events

*Take and organize photos from chamber events

*Copyedit and proofread magazine

*Support Communications Department staff on projects as needed


Required skills:

*Experience in writing and editing in an engaging, journalistic style

*Ability to meet deadlines

*Familiarity with using style guides, preferably Associated Press style

*Ability to work effectively on a team

*Familiarity with Adobe InDesign desired, but not required


Operations and Events Intern

*Attend events and write short reports to be published in weekly e-newsletter and monthly magazine

*Support signature events such as forum conferences

*Support AmCham-China initiatives in small business, trade and investment

*Support Operations Department staff on projects as needed


Required skills:

*Solid writing and editing skills

*Experience in research

*Attention to detail

*Work well in team situation as well as individually

*Experience or interest in event support

*Native English and native Chinese speakers are encouraged to apply
