Enrollment Services Staff Associate
UMA-Bangor is seeking a full-time Enrollment Services Staff Associate. S/he will support the overall UMA Enrollment plan by assisting students from the inquiry stage, through the application process, and actual enrollment/registration. Responsibilities include: developing and implementing student recruitment activities; providing coverage for walk-in, telephone, and electronic communication; reviewing applications and making admissions decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; serving as lead recruiter for specific academic programs, populations, and services; monitoring and helping develop electronic tools for prospect management and recruitment. This position will be based out of Bangor and will require travel throughout the state and occasional evening and weekend hours. Salary : the normal hiring range is high-twenties to low-thirties, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers an excellent fringe-benefits package.
The successful candidate must have :
- Bachelor’s degree and/or the equivalent education and experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Ability to travel on behalf of the University
- Occasional evening and weekend work is expected
Preference will be given to candidates with the following :
- One to two years of experience in recruitment, admissions or advising services
- Familiarity with the University of Maine System structure, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of student information databases and/or document imaging systems

Position Description
Title: Enrollment Services Staff Associate
Organizational Relationships
- Reports to Coordinator of Enrollment Services, Bangor Campus.
- Coordinates with Program Coordinators, Student Development, Student Financial Services, and external groups and organizations.
- Supervises, trains and evaluates student employees.
- Interacts extensively with the public, particularly prospective students, high school counselors, educational agents and Maine Community College staff.
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Enrollment Services Staff Associate supports the overall UMA Enrollment Plan by assisting students from the inquiry stage, through the application process and actual enrollment/registration.
Major Duties:
Develop and implement student recruitment activities
- Travel throughout Maine representing the university at student recruitment activities involving high schools, adult education facilities, college fairs, businesses, community service agencies, governmental agencies, and others.
- Contact guidance counselors, educators, adult education directors, human resource personnel, local employers and others to facilitate the identification and recruitment of potential students.
- Plan, organize and implement on-campus activities to attract new students.
- Assist with the development of recruiting materials and recruitment initiatives.
Work as team to provide coverage for walk-in center, telephones and electronic communication at Bangor campus.
- Guide new students through the enrollment process and provide pre-admission assistance.
- Meet with individual students to provide information about University programs and services, including academic opportunities, financial aid, advising, tutoring, etc.
- Assist students with course selection and registration.
- Assist with UMA Bangor New Student Orientation.
Review applications and make admission decisions in accordance with established University policies and procedures.
Serve as lead recruiter for specific academic programs, populations and services as determined by supervisor.
Monitor and help develop electronic tools for prospect management and recruitment.
Provide reports of activities, plans, expenses or accountability statistics, as requested.
Other reasonably related duties as assigned by the supervisor or the Enrollment Services leadership team.
P ublic and Professional Activities:
Represent the university at appropriate functions.
Participate in UMA committees and governance unit activities.
Continue to develop academically and professionally by attending regional and national professional meeting as permitted.
Participate in appropriate community activities.
Knowledge and Skill Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
