[Full-time] Operations Manager, Manufacturer in Shanghai at VDMA

The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) is Europe’s largest industry federation and has two China Offices: Beijing, Shanghai.
For almost ten years it provides specialized industry know-how for foreign mechanical engineering manufacturers in China. The work focus is to support VDMA member companies in the mechanical engineering sector in China.
A cross-cultural team of twelve industry experts provides specialized industry information, company contacts as well as other business leads for 16 selected industry sectors.

About this job:
Our client, a German medium-sized company, is one of the market leaders for compressors and compressed air systems. The wide product range includes screw compressors, piston compressors, oil lubricated or oil free, complete systems or single compressors. Our client serves its international customers through its wide network of local distribution offices and subsidiaries and supplies products and systems to more than 120 countries world-wide.
We are now looking for an ‘Operations Manager’ in our client’s subsidiary in Shanghai.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the divisions production, purchase, quality management and logistics
Managing the on time production of the compressors and the subsequent quality tests
Managing the purchase operations in consultation with the purchase department
Planning the necessary personnel capacities with the respective qualified staff
Assuring that the safety regulations in the production will be adhered and that the staffs are accordingly trained
Teamwork with international teams from different departments

Requirements:
Degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering
Several years of professional experience in the production department of a global operating company in China or Germany
Good English skills (written and spoken)
Good German skills (written and spoken)
Ideally Chinese language skills
High quality consciousness, knowledge of European standards
