Seasonal Parts Counter Clerk job - Alamo Group - Skowhegan, ME

The overall function of this job is to assist the parts department staff with day-to-day operations to keep the department running efficiently. The hours of this position will be based strictly on business needs, ranging anywhere from less than five hours per week to forty hours per week. This will be a seasonal position staffed during the first and fourth quarters of the year.
Essential Functions of the Job:
The duties of this job will include but are not limited to the following:
1) Check in freight and UPS orders;
2) Receive items into inventory;
3) Put-up freight and UPS orders;
4) Put-up and load customers’ orders;
5) Accurately package, label and stock inventory items;
6) Use the computer to process receiving;
7) Make local deliveries to customers;
8) Load trucks in the yard;
9) Provide excellent customer service to our customers over the phone and in-person;
10) Complete other tasks as assigned by parts department staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
1) General computer and word processing experience is highly regarded;
2) Customer service experience;
3) Ability to manage competing priorities;
4) Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required;
5) Ability to work independently without continuous direction or supervision;
6) Driver’s License.
Education and Experience:
Industry related experience in municipal, contractor, rental equipment, heavy machinery, and/or farming equipment background is preferred.
Working Conditions:
This job entails heavy physical work — exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent climbing, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking and hearing are required. Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions will occur, and employee will be in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock and oils/solvents. The noise level of this job is rated as moderate.
Notes:
Steel toe boots and use of personal protective equipment is a requirement of this position.
