Skills Required:

Chinese language skills are essential, and must be able to converse in writing and verbally with UK partners. Work with the Facility teams and other Engineering Specialists to provide Plant Engineering Electrical and Mechanical expertise on multi discipline projects, in support of the construction and modification of manufacturing facilities (Min 2 years previous in country expertise is essential). Undertake retrospective assessment of current construction team designs against facilities requirements and outline corrective actions. Project Management approach, within the Plant Eng Department, which encompasses all elements of building and facility design/installation/commissioning, Undertake desktop studies and site investigations for prospective projects, utilising in-house or external specialists where appropriate to enable the evaluation of alternative economic solutions and support project justification. Design, specify and support CJLR in the technical solutions and options to deliver stated project goals. Support CJLR in quality benchmarking and snagging of installations works. Monitor CJLR’s installations, identifying and offering technical advise, raising and managing issues resolution where appropriate. Share lessons learned for development & maintenance of Electrical and Mechanical Specifications and Standards for all Powertrain Projects. Assumed 40 hour weekly contract, in line with Plant installation. Some opportunity for weekend working as project demands, subject to additional hourly rate/overtime payments and agreed forward notice. No other local expenses will be provided by JLR, (i.e accommodation, travel subsidence will be at the individuals expense). Any work related travel, i.e. project meeting in Shanghai, or UK visits will be covered via expense claim with JLR. (all travel, hotel, transport, subsidence, and reasonable daily expense).

Skills Preferred:

Ideally educated to degree level in Electrical & Mechanical Building Services discipline. Preferred, but not essential, experience based consideration will be made. Good interpersonal and negotiating skills. Previous experience of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering in a manufacturing environment preferred. The ability to lead, and to work as part of a team is essential, as has the ability to achieve results by meeting deliverables / commitments. Awareness of Safe Systems for Commissioning of plant facilities. Ideally worked as a Design Engineer within a Building Services environment. Ideally qualified to Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status of recognised International Engineering Council/Institution/Bodies, such as: IMechE, IET, CIBSE or relevant Chinese local Institute/governing body. Candidate must have a record of proactive delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with the local Chinese workforce is essential. Good knowledge of local safety culture and standards. Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and can demonstrate effective problem management. Good knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project).

Experience Required:

Experienced MEP Design and installation Engineer. Project Management experience. Knowledge and ability to understand the customers’ needs and convert into reality, while maintaining cost, quality and timing milestones.

Education Required:

Degree Level (preferred, but not essential) in related Engineering Discipline (Lower level qualification will be considered, on experience basis)
