This position is responsible for developing, managing, and directing the VA Maine Healthcare System Medical Staff Recruitment Program. The program will market open or expected open positions and attract highly qualified applicants. The main goal of the program will be to locate and attract medical professionals to Maine, reduce medical staff vacancy rates by increasing the pool of highly qualified applicants and to work with HR Staffing Specialists by streamlining the pre-application process. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develops, manages and directs the Marketing Program that focuses on positive public perception of practicing medicine at the medical center, with the goal of attracting highly qualified staff.
- Conducts in depth analysis of professional medical staffing needs for the hospital.
- Maintains a database/management information system to track candidate leads for short term and long term use.
- Participates in third party proceedings.
- Notifies unions of changes or possible changes in employee’s conditions of employment, receives and evaluates input received and determines appropriate course of action.
- Formulates and implements long and short term policies, procedures and program plans for the attraction and retention of professional medical staff.
- Routinely evaluates the program and prepares reports for executives to make informed decisions.
- Participates in job fairs and other outreach activities (health career days at schools and universities), local and national conferences.
- Coordinates with other personnel regarding candidates seeking loan repayment and educational reimbursement programs.
- Meets regularly with the Chief of Staff to coordinate advertising positions, and share points of contacts with the professional community of specific specialties.
- Serves as a key liaison between individuals interested in medical staff positions and the clinical service chiefs.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
