Linux Administration Leader

What you’ll do



Lead Linux Operations is coordinating activities of several Linux Operations. As a team they are responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual takes decision making role in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure, works in close cooperation with project managers.


Typical activities will include:
• Organize work inside team, set task priorities
• Guide on Unix operation and application administration
• Participating in CAB meetings to schedule major release, weekly status meetings or daily stand ups
• Installation and/or administration of GNU/Linux Servers
• Installation and/or administration of wide range of internal services and applications like webservers (Apachehttpdnginx), application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere), Webservices, Atlassian Suite, subversion (CVS, SVN, git, TFS), build tools (ant, maven), databases (MySQL, Oracle), ftp servers and etc.
• Installation, administration, and operational support (i.e. application deployments) of Java application and/or web servers
• Server configuration management
• Support complex corporate servers and service environment
• Monitoring of the IT infrastructure
• Virtualization administration / enhancements
• Develop, coordinate and drive local and world-wide server level projects
• Optimize existing environment based on business and security needs
• Backup/restore operations


Knowledge/Experience:
• Able to coordinate a small team and to interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues
• Solid time management and organizational skills to effectively prioritize assigned tasks efficiently
• Fluent in English
• Experience with “Follow the Sun” service model is a big plus
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking and LAN/WAN environments
• At least 5 years of recent Unix / Linux experience
• Solid knowledge of Linux, UNIX administration – knowledge of OS internals (file systems, network storages, process lifecycle, logs analysis and etc.)
• Experience in configuration management of operating system platforms
• Understanding of virtualization and cloud technologies (VMWare, Azure and etc.)
• Experience with installation and administration of Java application servers and/or web servers
• Familiarity with scripting language such as Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby and regexp.
