Human Resources Assistant
For over 60 years, New England State and Local Governments and large contractors have come to depend upon Howard P Fairfield LLC (aka HP Fairfield) and WH Rose for high quality municipal equipment, parts and expert service. HP Fairfield LLC and WH Rose a division of the Alamo Group Inc serve municipalities and contractors throughout New England by helping them improve the safety and condition of roadways, airfields and public infrastructure through the sale, manufacture and custom installation of specialized work truck and related equipment. We have a need for a part time Human Resources Assistant at our Skowhegan, ME Location due to our continued growth.
Overall Function of Human Resources Assistant
The overall function of this position will be to administer employee benefits program, assist in processing the bi-weekly payroll and coordinate, distribute and track various HR forms and functions.
Essential Function of Human Resources Assistant
The duties of this job will include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing and completion of all payroll reports and functions.
- Explain and enroll employees in the benefit packages.
- Process workers’ compensation claims.
- Assist with recruiting and conduct employee orientation.
- Coordinate, distribute and track various HR functions and forms.
- Assist in implementing and interpreting company policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s): Desired Skill Sets for Human Resources Assistant
- Aptitude for fast accurate data input into a computer system.
- Numerical aptitude for quick and accurate results.
- Ability to work independently without constant direction or supervision.
- Natural desire to learn new processes & methods to complete assignments.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated proficiency with operating standard computer, phone, copier, fax, etc. business systems.
- Ability to work with confidential information and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written.
Education and Experience for Human Resources Assistant:
Associates Degree in Business with 2 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination education and experience.
Working Conditions for Human Resources Assistant:
This job is rated as sedentary — involves sitting most of the time, computer and word processing work 5+ hours per day. The position involves constantly talking, handling, fingering, hearing and field of vision. The noise level of this job is rated as moderate.
