A top international school in Ningbo which follows the US curriculum is searching for a Year 5 Class Teacher for an August 2015 start.

It is a campus school which is situated in over 200 acres of land in a leafy suburb of the historic city centre of Ningbo with a current headcount of 110 students. The residential facilities and canteen are based on villa designs which compliment the purpose built gymnasium, lecture-theatre block, teaching classrooms and a science-technology building. There are also extensive facilities for music, drama and visual arts. Outstanding sports facilities and training venues including a synthetic athletic track, soccer pitches, table-tennis training hall, racket courts and all-weather basketball courts allow our students to enjoy professional facilities all-year round.

An annual salary of US $28000 – 42000 per annum after tax depending on qualifications and experience. Teachers are also given free housing, annual flights, international medical insurance, free tuition for up to 2 dependents and an annual professional development allowance of US$750. Most teachers decide to live on campus in dedicated apartment blocks within short walking distance from the school however an accommodation allowance is provided for those wishing to live off campus.

Teachers must have at least 2 years of post-qualification experience. They will need to be comfortable in a small school environment and must have patience, be collaborative and have expectations appropriate to a modern yet developing country. Maximum class size will be 15. Teachers must be innovative, very aware of the difficulties of students learning in a second language, and sensitive to ensuring a positive atmosphere in class. The school follows US Common core standards/AERO Curriculum with AP courses offered in high school. A sense of humour and inquisitiveness are also important, as well as being reliable and punctual. Teachers who have experience with the US curriculum are preferred but those showing a willingness to adapt to a new curriculum will definitely be considered.

Ningbo is a city of almost 8 million people; It lies south of the Hangzhou Bay, facing the East China Sea to the east. Shanghai is accessible by fast train, boat and bus (bridge across Hangzhou Bay). A coastal city, it has fresh seafood all year round and many local delicacies attract Chinese visitors each year. Ningbo is one of China’s oldest cities, with a history dating back to the Hemudu culture in 4800 BC . Once known as Mingzhou, Ningbo was known as a trade city on the silk road at least two thousand years ago, and then as a major port, along with Yangzhou and Guangzhou in the Tang Dynasty. Ningbo is only 10km away from Ningbo International Airport so it is a gateway to Korea, Japan and South East Asia.
