Black River is seeking an Associate for its food- and agribusiness private equity group in the Shanghai office.  The global Food Fund team currently manages over $1.1 billion focused on making growth-oriented equity investments in the food related sectors.  The position will support portfolio managers to identify attractive sectors and analyze potential investment opportunities in China.

Position Accountabilities:

30% - Construct, review and maintain financial models for existing and potential investments

20% - Follow assigned sectors and the leading firms within it.  Conduct industry research to identify attractive sectors and companies by collecting and analyzing market information

20% - Assist with drafting investment memoranda and the execution of private equity investments

20% - Support due diligence activities on potential investment opportunities and subsequently document the findings

10% - Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.  At least 2 years experience working in consulting, investment banking, private equity, auditing or general corporate financial analysis in ChinaGeneral understanding of accounting and US GAAP rulesStrong financial modeling and analysis skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and take initiative as well as in a team settingFluent in both Mandarin and English (written and verbal)Extreme attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

CFA / CPAFood and/or agriculture industry related experienceDegree with Finance of Agriculture focusBasic understanding of PE industry
