Commercial Application Engineer - Pressure Job (Shanghai, ShangHai, China)

Commercial Application Engineers (CAE) work in the Commercial Operations function, reporting to a Commercial Leader. CAEs manage and negotiate technical risk within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process. CAEs are responsible for the technical content, technical cost and technical risk mitigation of customer Request for Quotations related to L2 and L3 projects. Principal work activities relate to the R1 to R3 phase of ITO model - from the Bid Go/No go R1 review decision with Sales to the R3 review handoff to Project Management.

CAEs use their knowledge of mechanical, controls and/or electrical engineering together with project experience and deep P&L product domain knowledge to develop engineering and installation work scopes, schedules and cost that facilitate total scope project offerings. They produce priced Bills of Material that meet customers' technical requirements and end-destination technical regulations. In providing their deliverables, CAEs work with Sourcing, Sales, Field Applications Engineers/Technical Sales Engineers, Project Engineers and customers as required. Tactical guidance for a given RFQ is provided by a Commercial Manager who will have overall responsibility for receiving internal approval to issue the completed technical and commercial* quotes package within the required timescale.

(*Commercial Terms and Conditions for a given quote fall outside the scope of the CAE. Costing for any third party content is negotiated by sourcing).

The PB level CAE is responsible for defined work or projects up to those of moderate complexity. In this role you will follow an individual work plan and meets day-to-day short-term objectives and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

- Communicate individual customer requirements for Sales Manager in regards to design and quotation

- Communicate requirements for order fulfillment to sourcing and projects operations teams

- Identify and develop new business opportunities to maintain and grow the sales pipeline

- Develop and execute sales strategies relevant to the market opportunities

- Gather industry intelligence to inform business decision-making

- Direct customer management through clear communication internally and externally

- Document competitors' activities and assess potential market moves

- Review and influence customer specifications to assure compliance and/or noted exceptions for development of equipment and service quotations

- Make technical presentations to all levels of customer organization

- Develop detailed engineering and installation work scopes, schedules and cost estimates to facilitate total scope project offerings

- Manage and negotiate commercial and contractual risk within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process

- Contribute positively to regional sales, orders, profitability, and ITO quality goals
