CFO & Treasurer job - Cianbro - Pittsfield, ME

The Cianbro Companies, a holding company for a $600 M employee owned construction services provider, with 14 subsidiaries and over 3,000 team members in 43 states is searching for a Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer to join its team. The company’s operations include heavy construction services, equipment rental, steel fabrication & coating, modular manufacturing, and project development services. Job Responsibilities:
The CFO will lead 12 direct reports and manage a staff of 120 Finance professionals. This position is a key business partner to the Company Leadership Team, involving significant interaction with project teams, business unit general managers, senior executives, company management and outside stakeholders. Below is a listing of the key responsibilities of the role (not all inclusive):


Leadership:
Develop and maintain the company internal controls, financial management and reporting process


Participate and guide the company’s Strategic Planning Process


Proactively manage the treasury, investments and insurance programs – establish goals – drive results/efficiencies


Foster and maintain strategic business alliances with outside stakeholders (Bank/Surety/Audit)


Raise the level of business/financial acumen, competency, and process improvement throughout the business


Mentor the organization’s internal Financial Leadership Development Program (FLDP) and ensure rotational assignments are meaningful to the participants


Ensure Finance Organizational structure and succession planning is adequate to sustain and support the Companies/Business Units


Decision Making:
Financial Statement Judgments & Accounting Policy


Business financial risk/opportunity assessment, contingency planning


Strategic risk assessments and contingency planning


Evaluate and make financial recommendations on company investments


Manage company accounting, finance policies and controls


Participates in the Company Risk Committee


Review and recommend to the President changes to existing insurance and surety programs


External Relations:
Effective relationships with financial stakeholders (banks, audit, surety)


Participate with industry associations, advocate groups and the political process


Foster relationships at the peer level with key customers


Actively engaged in the community


Internal Relations:
Briefs all stakeholders including BOD on Financial/Strategic Business and Corporate Governance Issues


Serve as a liaison to the Board of Directors Investment and Benefit Administration Committees


Maintain active relationships with business partners


Ensure proper, efficient, and timely project billing, payments and cash collection


Participate in development and analysis of financial performance to improve the predictability of business results with Companies, Business Units and Project Management teams


Culture:
Foster and maintain the company culture through communication, education and lead by example


Policy/Guidance:
Lead the development of clear and consistent financial governance, internal control and compliance policies while coordinating reviews with other stakeholders as required


Processes:
Participate in policy draft reviews for the organization to ensure compliance


Qualifications/Requirements:
15 + years’ of financial experience with a minimum of the last five years in a senior financial management role


Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in finance, with Treasury and Benefit Plan Administration experience preferred


Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills


Ability to see “big picture” while maintaining close attention to detail


Provide financial counsel to the CEO and leadership team on all aspects of business matters


Demonstrated leadership and team oriented skills, including managing direct reports remotely


Results focused individual with hands-on style committed to delivering high quality work product


Displays willingness to make timely decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment (common sense), ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquires or complaints


Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment


Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, CMIC)


Ability to travel to jobsites, other company offices and stakeholder meeting venues as required.
