Redstone Commodity Search are working with an international metals trading house looking for a general manager of steel products sourcing to be based in Shanghai.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

• In charge of the local sourcing operations in China for hot-rolled coils (HRC), hot-rolled plates (HRP), wire rod, rebar, debar, and billet / square bar steels


• Create and take accountability for the annual procurement plan as well as for the development of the sourcing budget and operations plan in compliance with the annual company business plan


• Head and manage the sourcing office / team and liaise with the local trading managers to ensure a reliable supplier base to reach full customer satisfaction


• Develop performance indicators to measure and control the sourcing activities in China and analyse opportunities to improve the existing operations


• Reports into Managing Director

Key Qualifications / Experience

• At least 10 years’ experience sourcing steel products in the Chinese market; preferably across HRC, HRP, wire rod, rebar, debar, and billet / square bar products


• Background from a steel trading company or steel distribution company


• Excellent relationships with Chinese steel mills and strong knowledge of product specifications (flat and long products)


• Previous management experience preferred


• Located in Shanghai or happy to relocate
