The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that protects the public health and assists our customers in meeting their needs; and that assist families in providing for the developmental, health and safety needs of their children. DHHS strives to provide these programs and services while respecting the rights and preferences of individuals and families. The Office for Family Independence is responsible for administration of eligibility determination for a number of programs, including MaineCare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Supplement and Child Support. This position is located in the Office for Family Independence (OFI) central office in Augusta, ME.


Job Duties


The Constituent Services Coordinator is responsible for the receipt, tracking and resolution of constituent inquiries made to the Office for Family Independence. Many inquiries come from the Governor’s Office, Commissioner’s Office or legislative offices (state and federal) and it is the responsibility of the position to collaborate with those offices to ensure accurate and timely resolution. The Constituent Services Coordinator will work with OFI Program Managers, Program Administrators and Regional Supervisors to track, organize, assess, redirect and resolve inquiries regarding programs administered by OFI that include but is not limited to Food Supplement, TANF, ASPIRE and MaineCare eligibility. In addition, the Constituent Services Coordinator will play a key role in managing the day-to-day support of operations at central office, including overseeing, monitoring and assigning the work of administrative staff. The position will also provide support to OFI’s centralized tasked based operations.


Requirements


To qualify, you must have six (6) years of education* and/or experience in a business or social services setting providing direct assistance to groups or individuals analyzing, evaluating and/or developing improvements of public sector eligibility or social service programs. The background of well qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competences:


1. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance competing priorities.


2. Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with staff, co-workers, constituents, other offices and/or agencies.


3. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills


4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.

* Only post-secondary degrees from a College or University whose accreditation has been granted from a nationally recognized accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education will satisfy educational requirements.
