It is a private institutional investment management complex consisting of an international team of researchers and technologists who constantly work toward ever greater quantification and automation in the development of processes.

The Junior Data Strategist will conduct research into new datasets that will be instrumental in the generation of trading signals (alpha) and portfolio management. The successful candidate will establish relationships with vendors and industry contacts so that we are aware of all potential new sources of valuable data. The candidate will be comfortable supporting existing datasets and answering questions about how they fit in to the overall goals of the firm.

Job Responsibilities:
• Ability to think outside the box and generate ideas for how data is a valuable source of portfolio construction and alpha generation
• In depth research via internet searches, financial terminals like Bloomberg and Factset, white papers, and industry publications
• Assist Portfolio Managers and Researchers with questions pertaining to the numerous datasets the firm uses on a daily basis
• Manage the data procurement process from contract negotiation to working with our legal counsel to hand off to the development team
• Domestic and international travel may be required

Job Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of work experience
• Experience working with data and data vendors
• Basic knowledge of financial instruments and the financial industry’s lexicon
• Exceptional communication skills in English
• Bachelor degree or above
• Ability to work with little supervision and work with team members across the firm
• Experience negotiating contracts and terms of service
• SQL skills useful, but not required
• Experience with Windows and Linux preferred
• Comfortable working with programmers and technical staff
• Customer focused mentality
