The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that protects the public health and assists our customers in meeting their needs; and that assist families in providing for the developmental, health and safety needs of their children. DHHS strives to provide these programs and services while respecting the rights and preferences of individuals and families. The Office for Family Independence (OFI) is responsible for administration of eligibility determination for a number of programs, including MaineCare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Food Supplement.


Job Duties


The Office for Family Independence has a current vacancy in Augusta. This position is of a managerial nature in developing , implementing, measuring and reporting to management on a variety of departmental program accuracy initiatives. This position is responsible for the management of compliance with federal and state rules of our Food Supplement, TANF, MaineCare and ASPIRE programs. Typical duties in this classification consist of: leading OFI representatives through various compliance audits required by federal partners and audits conducted by the state on behalf of federal partners; working collaboratively with program managers to develop responses to audit findings in concert with creating corrective action plans; developing and providing measurable data against objectives established in corrective action plans while conferring and coordinating with regional management to implement those plans; identifying needs and creating proposed plans of action to OFI senior management for continued improvement in program accuracy. The position will have management responsibility of OFI Quality Assurance staff.


Requirements


To qualify, you must have an eight (8) year combination of education and/or professional level experience in providing direct assistance to groups or individuals in a business or social services environment which includes at least four (4) years’ of supervisory and/or managerial experience in the administration of Family Independence and/or related social services programs.


**Applicants must address the following four competencies:


1. A proven skill and experience in interpreting and evaluating program compliance or quality issues, relating to application of appropriate program guidelines, policies or rules.


2. Using measurable data and information, a proven ability to prepare documents/reports for review as a way to track compliance/problem resolution.


3. A demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.


4. Effective communication skills both orally and in writing. Candidates are to submit a writing sample that is representative of their business writing ability.


*Only post-secondary degrees from a College or University whose accreditation has been granted from a nationally recognized accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education will satisfy educational requirements.
