Secondary PE Teacher - Shanghai, China - August 2016


The purpose of these roles and responsibilities is to outline briefly the tasks required of a secondary teacher in the secondary school. As a school they are trying to achieve high standards by responding professionally, sensitively and caringly to the needs of all of the school’s pupils. All teachers must demonstrate a standard of knowledge, understanding and skills of the curriculum taught in the school. All teachers must demonstrate an understanding of the wider curriculum and administration needs of the Foundation.


Purpose of the Job: To teach pupils within the school and to carry out such other associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Administration. Job description: A secondary school teacher teaches one or more curriculum subjects to pupils Year 7 to Year 13. Teachers may use creativity, humour and imagination to develop schemes of work and to plan lessons in order to foster a healthy culture of learning within the classroom and to generate the most effective interactions with pupils. Teachers encourage, monitor and record the progress of individual pupils, and devise and tailor resources accordingly, including technology. They must also keep up to date with developments in their subject area, new resources, methods and school wide initiatives. Teachers liaise and network with other professionals, parents and carers both informally and formally.


Job Requirements: A fluent English speaker that has obtained a Bachelor Degree and teaching certificate or license with excellent subject knowledge. Have a minimum of 2 years full-time teaching experience in the delivery of the Physical Education components of the National Curriculum of England as well as the Cambridge-administered IGCSE coursework in a school setting. An individual who is well versed in a number of areas of health education and sport development.


An individual who is able to support and promote the school’s value, has passion for teaching students, who demonstrate rigorous approach in teaching different year levels and is responsive to the needs of students and demonstrate commitment to the best interest of the students and teamwork with colleagues. Experience in teaching in an international school with a diverse student body and teaching faculty is a plus.
