Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Engineer -China
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Engineer to support the Lead NSSS Engineer through ownership of work packages associated with NSSS from the specific design phase through to the plant construction and operations.
The successful engineer will have responsibility for key NSSS systems including control (Control rods and control rod drive mechanisms), circulation (Reactor internal pumps, Main steam and main feed pipework and associated valves), and clean up systems along with managing framework contracts, delivering technical work and supporting the production of nuclear safety cases.
The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge and understanding across a range of nuclear power plant engineering issues including knowledge and understanding of light water primary circuit design, operation, process flow and control requirements. Additional knowledge of nuclear boiler systems or nuclear safety systems would be an advantage.
The engineer will have such accountabilities as the following:
– Perform nuclear technology analysis, assessment and review activities as required
– Support the Lead NSSS Engineer and contribute to the nuclear engineering design programme
– Ensure the NSSS design is compatible with the safety case
– Identify, document and manage NSSS team interfaces
– Deliver a NSSS design that complies with requirements
– Ensure that the nuclear safety standards demanded by the site licence requirements / safety case are met in the delivery of the assigned nuclear engineering activities
– Understand the research and development on which the design is based and review the implications of operating experience on the design;
– Support the setting of the commissioning requirements and accept the results of commissioning tests from a nuclear safety and environmental protection perspective;
– Support the setting of the operating envelope and EMIT requirements for nuclear safety and environmental protection.
Knowledge and Skills:
– Experience of working on nuclear related fluid systems including aspects of heat transfer, control and instrumentation would be an advantage
– Knowledge and experience of fluid systems including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and control systems would be beneficial
– Knowledge of degradation mechanisms affecting fluid systems would be beneficial
