What will you be doing?

Our client, a state Senior School in Hangzhou City, is looking to employ a native English-speaking graduate to teach Personal Image Design. The course involves teaching students of around 18 years old professional hairdressing and makeup techniques. You will prepare and deliver lessons as well as fulfilling assessments for your classes. You will be given teacher training as well as on-going team-building activities organised by the school. The weekly workload will be no more than 16 classes a week (45 minutes each) with two days off as well as 11 days public holiday. The initial contract, funded by the Chinese government, will be for 1 year, though they would like people to extend these if they do well. There are also opportunities for promotion within the organisation.

Where will you be?

Hangzhou Changhe High School is located in the Zhejiang province of China, which is centEred around Hangzhou City. This is a large, young, clean and vibrant city of 8 million people just 1 hour south of Shanghai. There is a large ex-pat community and excellent nightlife. The monthly salary of 7000RMB (approximately £700) will provide you with plenty of disposable income as cost of living is well below that of the UK. Included in the role is free accommodation with all necessary facilities; comprehensive medical and accidental insurance and your fights and residence permit will be reimbursed upon completion of your contract.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in a related discipline. You will be bright and articulate, with at least 1 years’ experience of teaching hairdressing and have a deep understanding of the subject. Understanding of the Chinese language would be preferable, however this is not essential.

*We need someone available to start ideally in March 2016.
*The schools will pay for your accommodation and insurance once you are out there.
*Candidates will need to pay for their own flights out to China, which will be reimbursed at the end of the years’ contract.
*Candidates need to organise and pay for their own working VISA through the Chinese Embassy. The school will advise on this if successful at interview.
