Job Summary
The Laborer position involves walking, bending, shoveling/sweeping, reaching, lifting and carrying several types of objects to assist residential customers. Operates stationary trash and cardboard compactors.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following:
Assures facilities operating compliance by accepting only approved material.
Maintains proper recycleable materials stockpile requirements in accordance with the Operations Manual.
Completes required documentation accurately and timely.
Housekeeping: manually picks up litter on the property, cleans around recycleable materials and waste containers, organizes and sweeps inside the recycling building, organizes white goods, attends brush piles, cleans office.
Maintains transfer facility property by coordinating 3

party plowing and operating small equipment such as a snow blower, and walk-behind mower.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory duties.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Required: High school diploma or G.E.D, and zero to four years previous experience.
Preferred: High school diploma or G.E.D, plus additional or specialized training, and zero to four years previous experience.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
Valid Maine Drivers License.
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Prefer experience working with the public.
