Senior Chemical Sourcing Agent - LORD Corporation - Cary, NC

Function

The Sr. Sourcing Agent is responsible for a set of commodities on a global basis and leads negotiations that result in multi-year or complex agreements.

The Agent coordinates requirements, develops and implements strategies on a global basis and independently negotiates through difficult situations and is capable of clearly and concisely communicating status/results to all levels of the organization as appropriate. The position proactively recognizes shifts in demand and manufacturing capability/capacity within the supply base and LORD’s manufacturing plants.

The Agent composes reviews and modifies complex business agreements and other contractual instruments. The position drives all key sourcing alternatives/decisions, whether domestic, near shore or offshore. The role is responsible for anticipating changes in demand and/or material costs by maintaining close communications with the supply base, sales, technology, and manufacturing entities. She or he utilizes this information in creation of forecast models to be utilized by upper management.

The Agent provides leadership in identifying and responding to inventory issues related to flow, turn, and economic order quantities, length of supply chain, storage requirements, and obsolescence.

The Agent actively collaborates with international counterparts to make effective supply decisions, leveraging global volumes and use of foreign and domestic suppliers with unique capabilities and/or cost structures. Further the Agent is responsible for guiding, development and implementation if commodity strategies within the Regions.

Mandatory Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and five (5) plus years chemical purchasing experience dealing with chemical commoditiesDemonstrated past successes in global sourcing and value analysis with external suppliersVery Good to Excellent desktop fluency and written and oral communication skillsEffective planner and ability to multi-taskAbility to travel up to 25% of the time including internationally where trips can be from 7-21 consecutive days
