ISP Closures Engineer

Closures Engineer – Shanghai, China – Contract/Permanent – £ Competitive
I am seeking a Closures Engineer to work for a niche automotive OEM who are looking to expand their business in the UK and China. This is a contract/permanent position based in Birmingham, and is offering a competitive rate and package. You will support the Closures Manager on development of all closures projects, leading small groups of engineers to develop optimised solutions and rapidly improve local capability.

What you will do
As a Closures Engineer you will:
– Lead small teams of engineers, giving detailed technical guidance for closures development.
– Help develop skills and ensure high quality solutions are generated for all closures engineering related activities.
– Support creation of 3D data and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 and other engineering development tools.
– Support and negotiate styling and design requirements with Design Studio and Manufacturing.
– Support cost/mass targets setting and focused management of status v. targets for all body closure systems.
– Create a robust and clear communication link to the UK technical centre.
– Support vehicle and component development to meet development process milestones.
– Support report creation for presentations to senior management teams.
– Benchmark competitive vehicles for trends, support teardown activities to analyse components and report findings.

What you will need
As a Closures Engineer you will:
– Have extensive knowledge of benchmark competitor vehicle solutions
– At least 8years experience in closures engineering.
– Be an experienced CAD user (Catia V5).
– Have knowledge of mechanical, industrial, manufacturing or stamping engineering design and processes.
– Perform additional projects as assigned.
– Travel – internal China and international travel may be required.
– Problem resolution and route cause analysis skills.
– Support late evening phone conferences with the UK
