[Full-time] International ParalegalLegal Analyst at Boeing
The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced legal professional to support legal activities in China as part of the China, Japan and Korea (“CJK”) region of the Boeing Law Department’s Global Law Affairs group. The Paralegal [Legal Analyst] will report to and work directly with the Business Manager for the Boeing Law Department and Boeing China Country Counsel in Beijing, and interface with a variety of Law Department attorneys and staff in regard to particular business unit or functional matters. The position has the following responsibilities:
1. Research. Provide timely and targeted legal and factual research as required, with expertise in Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, Consultant + and other legal research engines.
2. Regulatory. Review and develop understanding of national and regional regulatory regimes that will have an impact on the company. Understand and be able to communicate U.S. and local regulations as well as internal procedures associated with the giving and accepting of gifts and gratuities to commercial and government persons. File documents or make inquiries with local agencies to support legal requirements.
3. Drafting and Review. Draft and review training materials, substantive presentations, contractual provisions, letters, memoranda and other written communications and agreements. Understand Boeing’s form contracts and local market requirements. Review translations of legal documents and check for accuracy.
4. Corporate. Coordinate with Boeing Corporate Secretary’s Office on substantive corporate secretarial activity within China. Understand substantive requirements to ensure proactive and compliant approach to governance activities across the region. Draft and review routine legal documents as appropriate.
5. Special Projects. Work with the Regional and Country Counsel on special projects that enhance to efficiency and responsiveness of the Law Department in the region, with demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable, and drive projects to completion.
6. Administrative. Assist in tracking matters and budgets, coordinating with administrative support, business management team and outside counsel (as appropriate). Organize, track, and maintain Law Department files with attention to sensitive information. Manage document retention for the region.
This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not on Boeing US-based payroll.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills; able to prioritize activities and perform multiple tasks while maintaining quality, speed and accuracy; and have a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should work well with others, clearly communicating requirements, expectations and deadlines, asking questions to obtain and share relevant information. The candidate must have excellent judgment and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, including coordination with colleagues and clients in multiple time zones. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years’ prior experience as a legal professional with an international company or law firm; however, candidates with a law degree may have less than four years of experience. Minimum education requirements include an undergraduate legal degree or higher non-legal degree. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Fluency in English and Mandarin is required.
